The conversation between Allah and Jesus (alayhi’s- salam) on the Day of Judgment (paraphrased): Allah, The Most High, will ask, “O Isa, son of Mary, did you tell the people to worship you and your mother besides Me?” Prophet Isa will respond, “All Praise be to You! How could I ever say something so evil?

According to the Quran, when Allah asks Jesus (referred to as “Isa” in Islam) on the Day of Judgement, Jesus will reply, “Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right to say. Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my heart, though I do not know what is in Yours; verily, You, only You, are the All-Knower of all that is hidden,” essentially denying that he ever asked people to worship him as God, and affirming Allah as the only deity.

Key points about this exchange:

  • The question: Allah will ask Jesus if he told people to worship him and his mother as gods besides Allah.
  • Jesus’s response: He will declare his innocence, stating that he could never say such a thing and that Allah knows his true intentions.
  • Quranic verse: This dialogue is found in Surah Al-Ma’idah (The Table Spread), verse 116.
