The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) was established via G.O.Ms.No.570 MA dated 25.08.2008, dissolving and merging the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, Hyderabad Airport Development Authority, Cyberabad Development Authority, etc. Area Covered A total area of 5965 square kilometers is covered by the HMDA Master Plan 2031 for Hyderabad Metropolitan Region, which includes the following: 1. Extended area of HMDA of 5018 Sq. Kms. 2. The areas covered by the Outer Ring Road Growth Corridor, i.e., the 1 kilometer belt on both sides of the ORR (330 square kilometers) as earlier notified by G.O.Ms.No.470 MA dated 9 July 2008. 3. The area covered by part of the erstwhile HUDA area outside the Outer Ring Road Growth Corridor (432 sq. kms) earlier notified via G.O.Ms.No.288 MA dated 3-04-2008. 4. Areas covered by Part Hyderabad Airport Development Authority Master Plan, outside Outer Ring Road Growth Corridor (185 sq. km.), earlier notified by G.O.Ms.No.287 MA dated March 3, 2008. 5. G.O.Ms.No.242 MA dated 11.05.1989 notified areas covered by the HMDA Plan for Bhongiri. 6. Areas covered by Master Plan for Sanga Reddy earlier notified vide G.O.Ms.No.32 MA dt:12.01.1988. According to the HMDA’s new master plan, 184 lakh people will live in the city by 2031, 65 lakhs will work there, and the Inner Ring Road, Outer Ring Road and radial roads will be built. In the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region, the HMDA 2031 master plan proposes a radial-concentric structure of development, with new urban centers and nodes all over the city to promote a balanced development. Throughout the urban area, there will be a Peri Urban Zone and a hierarchy of circulation networks to cater to the current and future travel needs of residents and visitors.
